The study, which was released by the NRF and Prosper Insights & Analytics, said Americans are likely increasing their spending in an attempt to reconnect and create memories as economic conditions fluctuate. "While economic uncertainty remains on the minds of many, consumers are still focused on holiday celebrations like Easter," said Mark Mathews, NRF's chief economist.Candy is leading the way in Easter spending, with 92% of consumers planning to buy sweets, followed by 90% of shoppers who plan to spend on food. Researchers said 64% plan to purchase gifts, and 53% of people plan to buy decorations.
