The NFL has not yet notified the team or the NFLPA. Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson is expected to be suspended for two games for punching Buffalo Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb on the field following Buffalo's 37-34 overtime victory at SoFi Stadium on Monday Night Football, according to ESPN. The NFL has not yet notified the team or the NFLPA about any punishment, a source told the California Post. Jackson should have the ability to appeal whatever discipline is handed down. If the ban is upheld, Jackson would miss the Rams' upcoming matchups with the Arizona Cardinals and the Las Vegas Raiders. He would be available to return for their home game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 1.Jackson is the Rams' starting left tackle and the blindside protector for quarterback Matthew Stafford. It is unclear exactly what sparked the dispute, but ESPN cameras showed Jackson hit Chubb in the face after they had exchanged words near midfield. Players were milling around midfield, exchanging jerseys and making small talk when Chubb appeared to say something to Jackson, who was chatting with another Bills player.Jackson immediately marched over to Chubb and slugged him once in the face, knocking a cap from his head. Chubb then went after Jackson but was held back by several Bills players as well as injured Rams pass rusher Myles Garrett. Chubb attributed the incident to emotions and said he was not injured. He said he was already set to move on from the matter."It's just emotions, you know what I mean? Emotional game. It was a close game," Chubb said.Bradley Chubb Explains Postgame Altercation"And, you know, they always catch the second guy. So, I let him swing. And then my teammates held me back, and I just chilled." Chubb added that he is focused on his team. "I'm with my team," he said. "I'm turnt. We're ready for next week." The Bills' win moved them to 4-1 on the season. The loss dropped the Rams to 2-3. Buffalo blocked a winning field-goal attempt in overtime during the 37-34 loss. The Rams also cut ties with kicker Harrison Mevis after a special teams disaster in the game.Alaric Jackson Has Previous Conduct ViolationsThe suspension would be the second in the last few seasons for Jackson. He was suspended for two games in 2024 for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy following a lawsuit filed by a woman. The woman, who also reported it to the league, alleged that Jackson refused to delete a video and taunted her with it. The civil suit was dismissed.Jackson also has a prior NFL conduct-policy suspension and avoided criminal charges after a domestic-violence arrest by entering a diversion program. Police responded to a call at a home in West Hills on June 8 at 11 p.m. and said in a report that the 6-foot-7, 338-pound Jackson was arrested for willfully inflicting physical or corporal injury resulting in a traumatic condition on an intimate partner.Jackson entered a diversion program that required him to complete probation and anger management classes. Four months earlier, Jackson had signed a three-year contract that included $35 million in guarantees. He is scheduled to earn $18.4 million this season. Jackson is in his sixth season with the Rams and his fourth as quarterback Matthew Stafford's blindside protector.NFL Precedent Supports Jackson SuspensionFor comparison, Detroit's Brian Branch received a one-game suspension last year for striking an opponent after a game. An NFL suspension for Jackson appears likely based on that precedent. The league has not yet announced any discipline, and the team and players association have not been notified.
