Rams Wide Receiver Puka Nacua in Rehab
Los Angeles Rams All-Pro wide receiver Puka Nacua is currently in rehab, according to his attorney. This treatment began before he was sued for assault and battery by a woman alleging an antisemitic statement and a physical attack.
Details of the Lawsuit and Allegations
The lawsuit, filed late last month, claims Nacua made an antisemitic statement and bit the plaintiff on the shoulder on New Year’s Eve. Attorney Levi McCathern shared details with The California Post regarding Nacua’s proactive decision to seek treatment.
Rehab Not Linked to Legal Action
“He was in a substantial period of time before any of these allegations broke ... and he’s scheduled to be there for a while longer,” McCathern stated. He emphasized that Nacua’s entry into rehab was not a direct response to the lawsuit, but rather a personal commitment “to improve his overall behavior in every aspect of his life.”
Previous Apology and NFL Performance
This comes after Nacua issued an apology in December for a gesture he made during an internet livestream that referenced antisemitic tropes. Despite the recent allegations, Nacua has quickly become a standout player for the Rams.
Rising NFL Star
Drafted by the Rams in the fifth round out of BYU in 2023, Nacua has demonstrated exceptional performance in his first three seasons. He led the NFL with 129 receptions last season, accumulating 1,715 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. He is now eligible to sign a contract extension with the Rams this offseason.
