Rachel Recchia Addresses Online Criticism
Bachelor Nation’s Rachel Recchia, 30, became emotional while responding to negative comments about her physical appearance in a TikTok video posted on Tuesday, March 31.
Recchia Details Impact of Comments
“Normally I really am OK with a lot of the things people say about me online, but recently I feel like things have just gotten really, really bad,” Recchia shared. She explained that many comments focus on her appearance, stating, “Whenever I post, the majority of the comments are, ‘I don't look like myself,’ and ‘I don't look good,’ and ‘I look sick,’ and ‘I was so much more beautiful back then.’”
Addressing Cosmetic Procedures and Weight Changes
Recchia acknowledged she looks different than she did during Clayton Echard’s season 26 of The Bachelor in 2022. She stated, “I’ve been very open and transparent with the filler and Botox that I have,” adding, “I would do anything to be 25 and look that way again.”
She also addressed fluctuations in her weight, explaining that she became ill before filming season 3 of Perfect Match in 2025, requiring a PICC line which led to weight loss. “Right after I got that PICC line out of my arm, I went to film the show,” she continued, visibly upset. “I lost even more weight.”
Struggles with Body Image
Recchia shared the difficulty of being criticized for her weight, particularly after appearing on The Bachelorette season 19 alongside Gabby Windey in 2022. “You go and you're on a show and the main thing is people telling me how big I was when I was the Bachelorette, and then you see yourself at a different weight, it’s really hard to let yourself gain weight after that,” she admitted, stating she has “struggled” with her body image.
She acknowledged comments about her “slimmed out” face and expressed her ongoing efforts to improve her self-image. Recchia also noted a broader issue, saying, “I think there's so much going on right now just in the reality TV space with women and coming after how they look.”
Call for Kindness
“I know I’m putting myself in this position but it’s been something that I’m struggling with and I wish I had something of an ending to this,” Recchia said. She concluded her message with a plea for kindness: “Reminder to be kind today 🤍,” she captioned the post.
Recchia received an outpouring of support from fellow Bachelor Nation members and fans, including Charity Lawson who wrote, “Love you so much ❤️.”
