Event Details and Broadcast Information

The State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, April 3. While the event takes place on Friday, it will not be televised until Sunday, April 5, when ESPN broadcasts it at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Following in Notable Footsteps

Current Purdue player Loyer previously won the 3-Point Championship event as a high school senior in 2022. Ertel will aim to replicate that success.

Ertel's Stellar High School Career

Ertel recently concluded a remarkable high school career with Mt. Vernon, culminating in the state championship. He delivered a standout performance in the championship game, scoring 26 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing out 6 assists.

Individual Accolades

Throughout the season, Ertel averaged 24.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. He has been named the Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year and is considered the leading candidate for the Indiana Mr. Basketball award.

Mt. Vernon finished the season with an impressive 28-3 record, winning their final 11 games. “It’s something you dream about growing up. To be here in Gainbridge, it felt like we were NBA players. It was just crazy,” Ertel said after the championship win.

Looking Ahead to Purdue

Ertel is a four-star point guard and is expected to compete for playing time with Omer Mayer at the position this summer and fall. He brings significant excitement and potential to the Purdue Boilermakers program.
