Tiger Woods Arrested for DUI Following Solo Accident
Golf superstar Tiger Woods was taken into custody for driving under the influence (DUI) after being involved in a single-vehicle accident, according to details emerging from the official police report released Tuesday morning.
Although Woods passed the preliminary breathalyzer test administered at the scene, he declined to undergo further testing, which ultimately led to his arrest.
Evidence Found During Search
During the subsequent search of his person following the arrest, police officers discovered two hydrocodone pills in his pocket. When questioned by officers about prescription medication use, Woods reportedly admitted, "I take a few."
The report noted that Woods exhibited several visible signs of impairment during the interaction with law enforcement.
Observed Signs of Impairment
A deputy observed "several signs of impairment," including excessive sweating and significant difficulty while attempting coordination tests. Furthermore, Woods reportedly experienced hiccups consistently throughout the duration of the investigation.
Woods attributed his trouble walking to the extensive back and knee surgeries he has undergone. A truck driver involved in the incident assisted Woods in exiting his vehicle after the crash.
Circumstances of the Crash
The accident occurred while Woods was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed. He confessed to officers that he was distracted by both his cell phone and the vehicle's radio.
The incident unfolded when the truck in front of him began to slow down to execute a right turn. Woods attempted to maneuver around the truck by crossing double yellow lines but ended up clipping the rear of a trailer carrying a pressure washer, causing his car to flip over.
This incident follows Woods' previous DUI charge in 2017 and another high-speed rollover accident in 2021.
