Peoria Homicide Investigation Underway
A homicide investigation is currently underway in Peoria, Arizona, following a disturbing incident near 83rd Avenue and Jomax Road. Police were alerted after a man called authorities on Tuesday evening, admitting to killing his parents.
Details of the Incident
Peoria police responded to the home shortly after 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival, first responders discovered the caller and two deceased individuals inside the residence. The victims have been identified as Fraser Turk, 63, and Tina Turk, 56.
Suspect in Custody
Jonathan Turk, 29, the couple’s son, is in custody and is facing two counts of first-degree murder. According to court documents, officers recovered a hammer and a knife with suspected bloodstains while securing the scene.
Evidence Recovered
The recovered hammer and knife are being processed as evidence in the ongoing investigation. Police have stated that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
Community Reaction
Rob Cagnetta, a longtime friend of the Turk family, expressed shock and grief over the tragic loss. “They were great people, they were always there for you, always willing to lend a hand,” Cagnetta stated. “No matter what was needed, Scott and Tina were there for you. I don’t want the tragedy of this to mask what kind of people they were.”
Remembering the Victims
Cagnetta described Fraser and Tina as a couple admired by many, emphasizing their positive impact on the community. He noted that Fraser worked as a physician’s assistant and Tina was a nurse. “We’ve really lost two people that cared about the community,” he said. “It comes as a complete and total shock that this would happen.”
Prior Mental Health Concerns
Court records indicate that Fraser and Tina Turk had previously filed multiple mental health petitions concerning their son, Jonathan. These filings are now part of the ongoing investigation.
