Padres Seek Series Salvage Against Giants
The San Diego Padres will field a revised lineup for Wednesday’s series finale against the San Francisco Giants. San Diego is aiming to avoid dropping their second series of the season after losing the first two games to their National League West rivals.
The Giants won the series opener 3-2 and followed that with a dominant 9-3 victory on Tuesday.
Pitching Matchup: Pivetta vs. Houser
Padres Starter: Nick Pivetta
Nick Pivetta will take the mound for the Padres. He struggled in his last outing, allowing six runs on seven hits and three walks in just three innings pitched.
Pivetta is looking to replicate his success from the 2025 season, where he posted a 2.87 ERA across 181.2 innings.
Giants Starter: Adrian Houser
The Giants will counter with right-handed pitcher Adrian Houser, who is making his Giants debut. Houser signed a two-year, $22 million deal with the Giants this offseason.
In 2025, Houser recorded a 3.31 ERA in 21 starts with the Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays. He has a 1.93 ERA across 14 innings pitched in three career appearances at Petco Park.
Lineup Changes and Key Players
Fernando Tatis Jr. will return to the leadoff spot, despite the Giants starting a right-handed pitcher. Ramón Laureano is also in the lineup. Luis Campusano is set to start as well.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. PT/4:10 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on Padres.TV and the MLB App.
