A 64-year-old man from St. Johns County is facing DUI charges related to a golf cart crash that caused the fatal injury of his wife, according to an arrest report.
Charges Remain Misdemeanors
The man’s attorney announced a resolution with the State Attorney’s Office, resulting in misdemeanor charges and a probationary period of approximately six months. No further charges will be filed in the case.
Details of the Incident
The crash occurred around 10:45 p.m. on November 30th at the intersection of Recollection Drive and Dawes Avenue in Nocatee. The victim, a woman in her 50s, fell from the golf cart and sustained a fatal head injury.
Arrest Report Findings
The husband was initially charged with DUI and refusing to submit to a DUI test. The arrest report detailed observations of bloodshot, watery eyes and a detectable odor of alcohol from a distance of three feet.
