Murray City Police have identified the motorcyclist who died following a collision with a car on Tuesday evening.

Fatal Crash Details

The incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. near the intersection of 5300 South and Intermountain Drive in Murray, Utah. Francisco Contreras Villarreal, 26, was riding a motorcycle westbound on 5300 South when the crash took place.

Collision Sequence

According to Murray Police spokeswoman Kristin Reardon, a driver in a car traveling northbound on Intermountain Drive attempted a left turn onto 50 East, resulting in a collision with Villarreal’s motorcycle.

Life-Saving Efforts and Investigation

A bystander immediately began administering CPR to Villarreal until first responders arrived on the scene. Despite these efforts, Villarreal was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial reports indicated Villarreal was not wearing a helmet, however, investigators have since located a helmet a short distance from the impact point. The driver of the car sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. They are cooperating with the ongoing police investigation.

With warmer weather approaching and an anticipated increase in motorcycle traffic, the Murray Police Department issued a statement on Wednesday.

“As warmer weather approaches and motorcycle traffic increases, the Murray Police Department reminds all motorists to remain vigilant, check blind spots frequently and stay aware of their surroundings to ensure the safety of all drivers on the roadways,” the department said.
