Mobile police are actively searching for a man suspected of stealing meat from two stores on Schillinger Road and assaulting an employee during one of the incidents.

Theft and Assault at ALDI

The initial incident occurred at an ALDI store on Schillinger Road this past Saturday morning. The suspect, wearing sunglasses, allegedly filled a shopping cart with approximately $70 worth of meat, including a rack of ribs, and attempted to leave without paying.

When confronted by a store employee, a physical altercation ensued. Mobile Police spokesperson Blake Brown stated the suspect became violent when prevented from leaving with the stolen items. The employee sustained minor injuries, including a bite to the hand, but did not require hospitalization. Police responded to the scene around 10:20 a.m.

Second Incident at Corner Market

Less than two hours later, police were dispatched to the Corner Market, located approximately two and a half miles away. The same suspect is believed to have again attempted to steal meat products.

This time, an employee allowed the suspect to flee with the stolen merchandise, including another rack of ribs, to avoid further confrontation. Investigators believe this is at least the third instance of the suspect attempting similar thefts, with a previous attempt reported at the Corner Market several weeks prior.

Vehicle Description and Investigation

The Mobile Police Department has released images of the suspect and his vehicle – a Chevrolet Malibu with a dealer tag and damage to the right side of the bumper. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
