A Mobile, Alabama man will serve 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to a federal gun charge stemming from a high-speed chase that occurred last year. U.S. District Judge Jeffery Beaverstock handed down the sentence on Tuesday.
High-Speed Chase and Arrest
Roderiquez Quinterrion Henderson, 22, pleaded guilty in January to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The incident began on August 18th when a Mobile County sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull Henderson over near Rangeline Road and Halls Mill Road.
Details of the Pursuit
Henderson allegedly refused to stop and led officers on a chase that culminated in a collision involving his Toyota Camry and another vehicle on Dauphin Island Parkway near Rifle Road. Prior to the chase, Henderson had been convicted of shooting into an occupied building and an occupied vehicle.
Gang Affiliation and Pending Charges
Law enforcement investigators believe Henderson is associated with a gang operating in south Mobile. He currently faces additional charges in state court related to the same incident.
Sentencing Details
Judge Beaverstock ordered Henderson’s federal sentence to run concurrently with any sentence he receives in the state case. He noted that federal authorities often take the lead in prosecutions when both state and federal charges are involved.
