MIP London Axed After Two Years as MIP Talks Launches at London Book Fair in 2027 MIP London will not return for a third edition in 2027, RX has confirmed, as the new MIP Talks event launches at The London Book Fair in March. MIP London will not return for a third edition in 2027, organizer RX has confirmed. The international television market launched in 2025 as a spring counterpart to MIPCOM in Cannes. The new MIP Talks event will roll out in its place at The London Book Fair in March. MIP Talks will be held at The London Book Fair, which is organized by RX's Reed Exhibitions and is one of its flagship events. The fair draws an estimated 30,000 visitors a year and takes place at the city's huge ExCel venue.MIP London ran alongside the London TV Screenings at London's plush Savoy Hotel and a neighboring venue. It had around 2,000 attendees earlier this year, which was down on 2025. It struggled to establish itself in a crowded market. The event had to compete with distributors already holding their own events in London as part of the Screenings, with TV buyer schedules jam-packed. The London TV Screenings had for years served as the traditional spring market for the international television industry, following the demise of MIPTV, which was long held in Cannes.Despite backing from high-profile figures including David Beckham and Netflix content chief Bela Bajaria, MIP London found it difficult to carve out a distinct position. Distributors were already committed to their own events in the city, and buyers had little room in their diaries for an additional market.RX's wider MIP business is also being re-engineered. MIPCOM, the biggest TV market of the year, is being reshaped by RX's Smith into an event built around intellectual property. Creators, brands and platforms, as well as TV buyers and sellers, can convene there.RX has confirmed these changes and said MIP Talks will bring together voices from the worlds of entertainment, media and culture. It will explore which IP is breaking through and where opportunities are emerging. Year one of MIP Talks will be built around the theme From IP to Fandom and Fandom to Global Business.MIP has always been about understanding where the entertainment business is going next, Smith said. MIP Talks at The London Book Fair takes that curiosity further, bringing together the people shaping what breaks through, how fandom is built and where new global businesses are emerging. The boundaries of entertainment have all but disappeared, Smith said about the new event. IP can come from anywhere, audiences do not think in sectors and an idea can travel further and faster than ever before. The London Book Fair has attracted more traditional TV and film folk of late. RX hopes that launching MIP Talks alongside its sister show will bolster connections between the TV and literary communities. The move follows the Children's Media Conference, the biggest event in kids TV. It announced last week that it would be moving from its long-term home in Sheffield to The London Book Fair. The London Book Fair is delighted to be working in partnership with the brilliant team at MIP Talks, said the event's Director, Emma Lowe. She said the partnership aims to meld together our fantastic worlds where stories are created, curated and sent out to find ever more fans, more audiences and more homes. As MIPCOM changes to keep up with the times and MIP London draws to a swift conclusion, so the new MIP Talks event comes into view. The first edition will run at The London Book Fair in March.
