Meta Implements Further Workforce Reductions

Meta has announced a new round of layoffs affecting approximately 168 employees. The affected staff are based in Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond, as well as remote positions across the region.

According to a formal notice submitted to the Washington Employment Security Department, the majority of these positions are within the company's wearables division. For most of the impacted employees, their final day of work is scheduled for May.

Context of the Job Cuts

These latest reductions follow a series of job cuts previously announced by the company in January. The layoffs are situated within the broader Reality Labs division, which houses Meta's wearables projects.

The company has been actively shifting its internal priorities toward artificial intelligence development. As part of this strategic pivot, the wearables sector has faced significant restructuring.
