Premier League Giants Track Rising Star Yan Diomande

Manchester United and Liverpool are monitoring the situation surrounding highly-rated talent Yan Diomande, whose future is currently the subject of intense speculation across Europe.

Diomande has rapidly established himself as one of the continent's most promising young players. He has already registered an impressive 19 goals and assists across all competitions during his debut senior season.

This breakout performance has naturally attracted the attention of major clubs seeking the next generational talent. However, his current club, RB Leipzig, appears set on a specific timeline regarding his potential departure.

Leipzig's Stance on Diomande's Transfer Value

Reports suggest that RB Leipzig is likely to prioritize the sales of other players before sanctioning a move for Diomande. The German club holds a strong negotiating position due to the player's long-term contract, which runs until 2030.

Diomande is reportedly Leipzig's highest-priced asset most likely to be sold, though that sale is anticipated around 2026. The club could potentially raise approximately $230.8 million this summer by offloading players like Lukeba, Antonio Nusa, and several currently loaned-out strikers, including Loïs Openda.

The Precedent of Benjamin Šeško

While Diomande is not considered completely unsellable, a transfer this summer would require an offer matching his enormous, largely prohibitive, price tag. A more probable scenario mirrors the path taken by Benjamin Šeško, who now plays for Manchester United.

Šeško garnered significant interest in the summer of 2024 following a strong debut campaign with 18 goals for Leipzig. Instead of moving immediately, he agreed to a contract extension with improved terms, with the understanding that a transfer would be permitted a year later for an acceptable fee.

Leipzig eventually finalized Šeško's transfer in August 2025 for a reported $98.6 million.

Projected Timeline for Diomande's Exit

Sources in Germany indicate that Leipzig plans to reward the teenager for his stellar performance with a significant financial boost via a contract adjustment.

However, retaining Diomande would likely only extend for "one more season." A sale is officially expected no later than 2027. This timeline could accelerate only if a suitor meets the full $115.3 million valuation this summer.

For top European sides, including Manchester United needing midfield reinforcement and Liverpool focusing on defense, a transfer in that price range might be better suited for 12 months down the line.
