LeBron James Details Driveway Basketball Incident
NBA superstar LeBron James recently confirmed a dramatic event from his past: shattering a backboard during a one-on-one matchup with his son, Bronny James.
The incident occurred on Monday night when LeBron was detailing his impressive stat line from a recent game, which included 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists. During the recollection, he revealed the driveway mishap.
The Unintentional Destruction
LeBron explained that the game took place back in 2014 at their residence in Miami. He recounted driving past Bronny for a dunk that resulted in the glass breaking.
"I drove around him and dunked it. I didn't mean to shatter the glass but, I shattered it," LeBron recalled of the moment.
Dominance Over His Son
LeBron joked that the outcome of the game was never truly in question, referencing his peak performance level at the time. Bronny, who is now 21, managed to score a few baskets during their contest.
"That's like Miami Bron -- that's like invincible Bron, so it's not like he was about to win," LeBron stated humorously.
Aftermath and Current Status
Following the backboard destruction, LeBron expressed uncertainty about whether he replaced the equipment at the Miami house. He even posed the question directly to his son.
"I didn't mean to shatter it -- I had to buy another one, or did I even buy another one? Bronny, did I even buy another hoop?" LeBron asked.
While fans anticipate a potential rematch between the father and son, LeBron is currently performing strongly in the 2025-26 regular season, averaging 20.9 points, six rebounds, and seven assists per game.
