Israeli Air Strikes Intensify in Southern Lebanon
Israeli air strikes in southern Lebanon have killed at least 10 more people and wounded three others, marking the second month of the ongoing offensive. The attacks targeted multiple areas, including Ramadiyeh, Kfarsir, and Zebdine, causing significant damage to homes and infrastructure.
Casualties Reported in Multiple Towns
Ramadiyeh and Kfarsir
The Lebanese health ministry reported on Thursday that four people were killed and three wounded in a strike on the town of Ramadiyeh, located in the Tyre district. Separately, the state-run National News Agency reported three fatalities after a two-story building was struck in Kfarsir.
Zebdine and Other Targeted Areas
A municipal council member and two of his family members were killed when Israeli warplanes hit a four-story building in Zebdine, according to the National News Agency. Israeli warplanes also conducted strikes on Yater, Harouf, and Zebdine, resulting in the destruction of several homes.
Artillery Shelling and Reconnaissance Flights
Israeli artillery shelling targeted areas including Siddiqine, Jabal al-Batam, and Zebqine, as well as the outskirts of several towns: Shaqra, Wadi al-Slouqi, Mansouri, Majdal Zoun, Wadi al-Hamra, Hamoul, and the vicinity of Qalaat Dabiya. No casualties were reported from the shelling.
The National News Agency also reported intensive activity from Israeli reconnaissance aircraft over the Tyre area.
Incidents in Northern Lebanon
An explosion was heard in the Batroun area of northern Lebanon, though the cause remains unknown. Smoke was also observed rising from forested areas between the towns of Asia and Nahla, with no further details available.
Escalating Regional Conflict
Since the beginning of the Israeli offensive on March 2nd, Lebanese health authorities have reported 1,318 deaths and 3,935 injuries. The offensive began following a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2nd.
The attacks are occurring amidst heightened regional tensions following a joint offensive by Israel and the US against Iran on February 28th, which resulted in over 1,340 deaths, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, causing casualties and disrupting global markets.
