Las Vegas Awarded Super Bowl LXIII for 2029

The National Football League (NFL) owners officially decided on Monday to return the Super Bowl to Las Vegas in 2029. This marks the second time the championship game will be held in the entertainment capital, following the recent hosting of Super Bowl LVIII.

The decision was finalized during a vote held in Phoenix. Las Vegas hosting the game again seemed highly probable after the city successfully managed Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024, where Kansas City defeated San Francisco 25-22 in overtime.

Commissioner Goodell Praises City’s Hospitality

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expressed enthusiasm about the return, noting the city's ability to deliver an exceptional event. He stated, "We're excited to bring the Super Bowl back to Las Vegas and provide our fans another incredible experience in one of America's greatest sport and entertainment destinations."

Goodell highlighted the success of the first event. He added, "Super Bowl LVIII demonstrated the scale, energy and hospitality the city brings to global events, and we look forward to working alongside the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the Raiders and the community to deliver an even greater experience this time around."

Upcoming Super Bowl Locations Confirmed

The 2029 game will be Super Bowl LXIII. This follows a sequence of confirmed future host cities for the championship game.

  • 2025 (Next Year): Inglewood, California, will host for the second consecutive year.
  • 2026: Santa Clara, California, hosted the game this year (where Seattle beat New England 29-13).
  • 2028: Atlanta is scheduled to host the 2028 game.

Local Leaders Commit to Raising the Bar

Raiders owner Mark Davis issued a statement acknowledging the collaborative effort involved in securing the game. He remarked, "It's a testament to the Raiders, the LVCVA, civic leaders, the community, and the NFL working together as one."

Davis further committed to exceeding expectations for the next event. He concluded, "Super Bowl LVIII set a high bar, and for Super Bowl LXIII we are committed to raising it even further."

Las Vegas: A Growing Hub for Major Sporting Events

Las Vegas has firmly established itself as a premier destination for major sporting events since the Raiders relocated there in 2020. The city also hosted the NFL Draft in 2022.

NFL Executive Vice President Peter O'Reilly confirmed that the unanimous decision by ownership was based on the overwhelming success of the first event. O'Reilly noted, "Clearly, Super Bowl 58 in Las Vegas was a tremendous success... That's why Las Vegas is the host of so many premier sports and entertainment events."

The 2029 Super Bowl joins an already packed schedule of high-profile events slated for Allegiant Stadium and the city.

  • 2027: College Football Playoff National Championship.
  • 2028: NCAA Final Four.

Furthermore, the city anticipates the Athletics baseball team beginning play in their new stadium in 2028, with the possibility of a new NBA team starting its inaugural season that same year.

Transformational Impact on the City

LVCVA CEO/President Steve Hill emphasized the long-term positive effects of the NFL's presence. He credited Mark Davis's decade-old commitment to bringing the Raiders and Allegiant Stadium to the city.

Hill stated that this commitment has been "transformational for Las Vegas," elevating its global profile and creating opportunities like hosting the Super Bowl. He concluded, "This is a city that is built to host. It's who we are. It's not just what we do, it is how we measure ourselves."
