Kristin Cavallari recently shared intimate details about her past marriage to former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, attributing their union to a deep, spiritual arrangement. The 39-year-old reality star opened up on the Tuesday, March 31, episode of her podcast, Let's Be Honest.
The Concept of a Soul Contract
While discussing the complexities of romantic relationships and knowing when to end them, Cavallari expressed a strong belief regarding her time with Cutler, 52. She stated clearly, “I know I was supposed to marry my ex-husband. I was supposed to have three kids with him.”
Cavallari elaborated on this spiritual perspective, explaining that this union was part of her necessary life path. “That was my journey,” she clarified. “And I actually think we probably decided that before we came to Earth. I think we had a soul contract and we were supposed to be together.”
Overcoming Logical Doubts
The television personality recalled moments where her intuition clashed with her logic concerning the relationship. Cavallari mentioned that they had previously broken up while engaged only to reconcile later due to an intense, undeniable attraction. She felt “this crazy pull towards him” that she could not logically explain.
“Even though I logically was like, ‘He’s probably not good for me.’ But on a deep spiritual level, I had to be with him,” she confessed. Cavallari suggested that even when a partner seems detrimental, the soul recognizes a vital lesson to be learned from the experience.
Processing Pain for Growth
Cavallari acknowledged the potential confusion her comments might cause listeners, joking, “I’m probably just complicating it more.” This discussion follows previous revelations about the difficulty of her separation from Cutler.
In a February episode of her podcast, Cavallari discussed embracing the emotional aftermath of the divorce. She resolved to fully experience every emotion associated with the split, including the pain. “I wanna experience it all. The good, the bad, the ugly, I wanna feel the pain,” she recalled saying at the time.
She credits this willingness to feel deeply for her personal development. “And thank God I did, because that was where the majority of my growth and life came from. The pain and the hurt and the suffering is there to teach us something,” the Laguna Beach alum stated.
Timeline of the Relationship
Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler officially married in 2013, concluding their union nearly seven years later in 2020. Their relationship began in 2010, leading to Cutler’s first proposal in 2011, which they subsequently called off later that year before reconciling in November 2011.
The couple welcomed three children during their time together:
- Camden (now 13), born in 2012.
- Jaxon (now 11), born in May 2014.
- Saylor (now 10), born in November 2015.
Currently, Cavallari remains single. Jay Cutler, however, has moved on and became engaged to model Samantha Robertson in 2024.
