Khloe Kardashian recently shared details about the critical moments following Lamar Odom's collapse at a Las Vegas brothel in October 2015. Odom was found unconscious, leading to severe health complications for the former NBA star.

The Life-Threatening Health Crisis

Kardashian, who was legally married to Odom at the time, recounted the dire prognosis in the Netflix documentary, Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom. She explained that Odom suffered extensive brain damage on his left side and experienced lung collapse.

Doctors presented a grim outlook for a necessary surgery. "This surgery, there’s, like, a 10 percent chance it will work, or he might die on the table," Kardashian, 41, stated during the documentary.

Kobe Bryant's Crucial Counsel

Amid the crisis, Kardashian withdrew her pending divorce petition from Odom, 46, to focus on his recovery. She sought counsel from one of Odom’s former Los Angeles Lakers teammates.

"Kobe Bryant was there and he helped me make the decision of doing the surgery," Kardashian revealed. Bryant and Odom played together on the Lakers from 2004 to 2011. Bryant tragically passed away in a helicopter crash in 2020.

Hospitalization and Visitation Disputes

Lamar Odom spent days in a coma in a Las Vegas hospital, enduring 12 strokes and six heart attacks, according to his son, Lamar Jr., who was also featured in the series.

The period was marked by tension regarding visitation rights between Kardashian and Odom’s first wife, Liza Morales, 46. Morales noted that access was restricted: "Some people got to see him, some people didn’t. Khloé had control over that."

Kardashian Implements Security Lockdown

Kardashian confirmed she implemented strict control over who could visit the hospital floor. Initially, she allowed people in, but this changed after a disturbing discovery.

"I found out that three of them were drug dealers that were wanting to collect money, rummaging through his personal bags," she explained. This incident prompted her to enforce a lockdown, requiring her authorization for all visitors.

Escalation with Family and Security Presence

The heightened security measures led to awkward confrontations, particularly involving Odom’s family and Kris Jenner. Liza Morales recounted an incident where Jenner’s bodyguard intercepted her family.

Morales recalled the bodyguard stating, "Before you come onto this floor, you guys gotta sign this." He then singled her out, saying, "Not you."

The situation reportedly escalated to involve law enforcement. Morales stated, "It got so bad that somebody must have told the cops because Vegas PD came upstairs with five cops, two German shepherds. It was very intimidating." She felt this action, intended to "keep the peace," was ultimately "triggering."

Recovery and Finalizing Divorce

When Odom awoke, he recalled aggressively removing medical tubes from his neck before being transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. His early recovery involved significant challenges, including loss of bowel control.

Kardashian remained steadfastly present throughout the ordeal. "I never left the hospital," she asserted. "I was there for about four months with him, every single day. We were determined to get him walking and moving again."

Odom was released in January 2016. Kardashian subsequently refiled for divorce in May 2016, with the separation officially finalized in December 2016.
