Court Proceedings and Charges

Joseph Duggar, known for his appearance on 19 Kids and Counting, has officially entered a plea of not guilty to charges of child molestation. The 31-year-old reality star appeared in court remotely from the Bay County Jail in Florida.

A judge has set Duggar's bond at $600,000. He is scheduled to return to court on April 20. Two days prior to his appearance, Duggar submitted a written plea of not guilty to all charges, waived his arraignment, and formally demanded a jury trial through his attorney.

Specific Allegations

Duggar faces multiple charges, including lewd and lascivious behavior and molesting a victim under the age of 12. The accusations stem from a 2020 family vacation to Panama City Beach, where he is alleged to have sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl multiple times.

According to an affidavit for an arrest warrant, Bay County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigator Chase Norris stated that Duggar repeatedly asked the victim to sit on his lap and would cradle her. The affidavit further alleges that Duggar covered them with a blanket before touching the victim's thighs and moving toward her waistline.

Investigation and Arrest

The legal action followed a confession Duggar reportedly made to the victim's father. Two weeks later, the victim, now 14, provided a statement to a detective from the Tontitown Police Department.

The affidavit notes that the incidents ceased after Duggar apologized to the victim for his actions. Following the victim's interview, Tontitown police arrested Duggar at his Arkansas home on March 18.
