Jon Stewart Confronts Trump's Bizarre Invitation to Saudi Investors
Comedian Jon Stewart recently addressed an unusual proposition made by President Donald Trump during a recent event. Trump offered attendees, specifically Saudi investors, an open forum where questions would not be screened.
The remarks occurred during a speech at an event hosted by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund in Miami. Stewart highlighted the President's specific invitation for unfiltered discussion.
Trump's Unfiltered Offer
During his address, Trump, aged 79, told the audience, “I’m asked to take a few questions, and unlike other politicians, they would like the questions screened. I don’t ask for screening of the questions.”
He then explicitly stated the breadth of acceptable topics: “You can ask me anything you want. You can talk sex,” Trump declared. “You can do whatever the hell you want. I’m here for you.”
Stewart's Dramatic Response and Critique
Upon airing the clip, Stewart paused in silence before reacting to the President's comments. He then humorously engaged the audience by asking, “We can ask about sex?”
Stewart followed this by reaching under his desk and dramatically producing a box labeled “EPSTEIN FILES,” which generated significant laughter from the crowd.
The host proceeded to satirize Trump’s behavior, suggesting his demeanor was less like a “commander in chief at war” and more like a “grandpa who’s lost his filter in public.” Stewart compared the situation to an embarrassing family moment, citing an inappropriate comment about a waitress.
Focus Shifts to Foreign Policy Gaps
However, Stewart indicated that Trump's unfiltered comments were not the central issue. For the Daily Show host, the greater concern is the apparent absence of focus on serious geopolitical matters.
Stewart pointed out that the ongoing conflict in Iran seemed entirely overlooked by the President. He noted that Trump addressed Saudi investors who should logically be preoccupied with regional instability.
“He addressed a room full of Saudi investors, who you would think might be very concerned about the bombings in their neighborhood,” Stewart explained. “But he wants to let them know, we don’t have to talk about that at all!”
