Jon Hamm Addresses *Mad Men* Reboot Possibility

Mad Men star Jon Hamm has addressed the possibility of returning as Don Draper, offering a definitive response to questions about a potential reboot. The actor reflected on the show’s complete and satisfying ending, leaving little doubt about his willingness to revisit the iconic role.

“I’ve Aged Out of Playing Don”

When directly asked about a reboot, Hamm stated, “Oh god. I don’t know. If they do it, it certainly won’t be with me. I think I’ve aged out of playing Don.” The 55-year-old actor believes that stepping back into Don Draper’s shoes at this point in his career would not feel authentic.

Preserving the Show's Legacy

Hamm also explained his concern that revisiting the story could potentially diminish the impact of the original series. He praised the way Mad Men concluded its seven-season run, providing closure for key characters like Peggy, Pete, Betty, and Roger.

A Satisfying Conclusion

“I was very pleased with how the show ended… I’d hate to open that box back up and ruin it,” Hamm said, emphasizing that the narrative already feels complete. He reiterated a previous stance shared in a THR roundtable, stating, “There’s no story to tell. We ran out of story.”

No Story Left to Tell

Hamm added that the ending felt “satisfying” for both himself and the audience. He made it clear that he prefers to leave the legacy of Mad Men untouched, believing the story has already been fully told.
