The collaborative effort between Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and Chinese automotive giant Chery has officially introduced the Freelander brand to the market. This new marque has launched its debut vehicle in China, presenting it as a rugged, electrified four-wheel-drive SUV.

The first vehicle under the Freelander nameplate is positioned as a mid-sized, off-road family SUV. It is designed to operate alongside Chery's existing portfolio, which includes the Omoda, Jaecoo, and iCar brands.

Production is slated to begin later this year at the JLR-Chery factory in China. This new model will take the place of the existing Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque at that specific facility.
