This positive assessment follows a challenging prior season where the Jets concluded with a 35-8 loss to the Bills, featuring a defense ranked 31st in points allowed and an offense ranking 32nd in passing yards per game.

Strategic Overhaul and New Control

Glenn acknowledged falling short of expectations last season, admitting he let down both the players and the organization. To ensure improvement, Glenn has taken on the responsibility of calling defensive plays next season, granting him increased authority over the unit's performance.

Intentional Roster Construction

The Jets have aggressively added talent to the roster through trades and free agency. Key acquisitions include quarterback Geno Smith and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick via trade. Free-agent signings bolstering the team feature David Onyemata, Demario Davis, Joseph Ossai, Nahshon Wright, Kingsley Enagbare, and Dane Belton.

Glenn emphasized the deliberate nature of these personnel decisions. "Everything that was done was intentional," Glenn stated. He added that while the team still has significant progress ahead, "the process of what me and [Moug] wanted to do, coaching staff, players, that whole process, you can see it," justifying his "outstanding" evaluation.

A central component of Glenn's optimism is the arrival of quarterback Geno Smith. Glenn views Smith as a pivotal figure in achieving the team's ultimate objectives.

The coordinator was highly complimentary of Smith, asserting, "He's the guy that's going to lead us to the promised land." Glenn highlighted Smith's established track record in the league, particularly during his tenure in Seattle, noting that Smith "fits exactly what we’re trying to do."

For Glenn, the mission remains fixed on ending the team's postseason drought, which has persisted since 2010—the longest active streak in the NFL. The ultimate goal is reaching the "mountain top" and securing a Super Bowl victory, something the franchise has not achieved in nearly six decades.

Glenn stressed that this ambition is a constant motivation. "There’s not a day, not an hour, not a minute I don’t think about that," he confessed. He is deeply focused on maximizing every player's potential to achieve success and leave a lasting legacy of consistent winning.
