A Challenging Health Journey

Jenny McCarthy recently opened up about a harrowing health crisis that she described as a 'living hell.' During an appearance on Maria Menounos’ Heal Squad podcast, the 53-year-old explained that her ordeal began with an infected root canal that failed to heal properly.

McCarthy shared that after an initial procedure, her face swelled up just three weeks later. She discovered that the infection had not been fully cleared, leading to a deeper issue involving her jawbone.

The Root of the Problem

The star revealed that she developed a jawbone infection caused by three toxic pools of bacteria hiding beneath her wisdom teeth. Despite undergoing multiple oral surgeries, the infections persisted, leading to a cycle of recurring health issues.

The complications extended far beyond her mouth. McCarthy suffered from debilitating symptoms, including:

  • Insomnia
  • Agonizing leg cramps
  • Persistent growths on her eyelids

She described the growths on her eyes as resembling pus-filled, whitehead-like lesions that would repeatedly return despite treatment.

Diagnosis and Recovery

After her medical team decided to investigate further, they tested her for mold exposure. It was ultimately determined that McCarthy was suffering from mycotoxin poisoning. She is currently three months into a rigorous, year-long mold protocol to address the condition.

In a previous interview with People, McCarthy noted that the ordeal resulted in her teeth and implants falling out, forcing her to rely on a soft-food diet for an extended period. She underwent nine surgeries in a single year to manage the spreading infections.

Support Through Adversity

McCarthy credited her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, for his unwavering support throughout her recovery. The couple, who have been married for 11 years, have previously discussed their commitment to therapy and open communication as a way to navigate the vulnerabilities that arise in their relationship.

While the recovery process has been long and painful, McCarthy noted that she is finally able to chew again. She continues to focus on her health as she works through the prescribed mold treatment protocol.
