Jack Black's Popular Films Arrive on Peacock
Three well-loved Jack Black movies are now streaming on Peacock, offering fans a chance to revisit the actor’s comedic performances. Black is widely recognized for his roles in films like School of Rock (2003) and Nacho Libre (2006).
Kung Fu Panda Joins Peacock’s Lineup
Among the newly added titles is the 2008 animated hit, Kung Fu Panda. Directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne, the film features Jack Black as the voice of Po. The voice cast also includes Dustin Hoffman as Master Shifu, Angelina Jolie as Master Tigress, and Jackie Chan as Master Monkey.
A Box Office Success
Kung Fu Panda proved to be a significant commercial success, grossing approximately $632 million worldwide. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature in 2008, but ultimately lost to WALL-E. The franchise has continued to expand with a fourth film released in 2024, as well as several television series: Legends of Awesomeness, The Paws of Destiny, and The Dragon Knight.
Recent and Upcoming Projects
Jack Black recently appeared in A Minecraft Movie and Anaconda (both 2023). He is also set to reprise his role as Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon in the upcoming Jumanji sequel and will voice Bowser in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which arrives next week. Kung Fu Panda 4 director Mike Mitchell has indicated a fifth installment is possible, given the newest film’s box office success of approximately $547.7 million.
