Champaign, IL – The University of Illinois recently hosted Quentin Coleman, a four-star guard and top-35 prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, during their preparations for the Final Four.

Illinois Leveraging Final Four Success in Recruiting

The Illini’s deep run in the NCAA Tournament is proving to be a significant recruiting tool. Illinois has successfully attracted talented players under Coach Brad Underwood, and the Final Four appearance demonstrates the program’s ability to compete at the highest level.

Quentin Coleman: A Rising Star

Coleman, a St. Louis native, initially ranked as the No. 172 recruit in his class in July 2025. He has since dramatically risen in the rankings to No. 34 nationally.

Shooting Prowess and Versatility

Coleman possesses a skillset that aligns well with Illinois’s playing philosophy, particularly his exceptional long-distance shooting ability. He exhibits picturesque form, a quick release, and a solid base, making him a promising marksman.

Beyond shooting, Coleman demonstrates impressive off-ball movement and a knack for finding open shots. He is comfortable handling the ball and creating opportunities for himself, utilizing a variety of moves like Euro steps and deceleration steps to attack the rim.

All-Around Game and Intangibles

At 6-foot-4, Coleman is a willing passer, capable of making both post entries and dump-off passes. He also rebounds effectively for his position and plays tenacious defense. These qualities, combined with his confidence and work ethic, make him an ideal target for Coach Underwood.

Current Recruitment Status

Coleman previously committed to Wake Forest but has since re-opened his recruitment. Illinois, Texas Tech, and Missouri are currently considered strong contenders for his commitment.
