I-5 Northbound Lanes Shut Down Due to Crash
All northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near DuPont, Washington, were closed early Wednesday morning following a semi-truck accident. The incident occurred around 3 a.m., causing significant disruption to traffic.
Details of the Incident
According to a report from the Washington State Patrol, the truck was traveling near the Steilacoom Dupont Road exit when the driver lost control. The vehicle then veered to the right and collided with multiple concrete barriers.
Fuel Spill and Cleanup
The crash resulted in a diesel fuel spill, with an estimated 100 gallons spreading across the highway, according to Trooper Kameron Watts. Crews worked for over two hours to clear debris, contain and clean up the fuel, and repair the damaged barriers.
Highway Reopened
All lanes of northbound I-5 were reopened to traffic after the cleanup operation was completed. The Washington State Patrol did not release information regarding any injuries sustained in the accident.
