Brian Hooker, the husband of missing Michigan woman Lynette Hooker, has been arrested in the Bahamas as authorities continue the search for her.
Incident Details
The couple was sailing near Elbow Cay on Saturday evening when Lynette reportedly fell from a dinghy while traveling from Hope Town on the Abaco Islands to Elbow Cay, en route to their yacht, 'Soulmate'.
Husband's Account
According to Brian Hooker, bad weather conditions caused Lynette to fall into the sea. He stated she was holding the boat key when she went overboard, which shut off the engine of the 8-foot dinghy.
Hooker claims he attempted to reach her but was unable to due to strong currents and high winds. He paddled the dinghy back to shore, arriving at a marina around 4 a.m. Sunday and reported his wife missing.
Ongoing Search and Investigation
The search for Lynette Hooker is ongoing, involving extensive efforts from the U.S. Coast Guard and the Royal Bahamas Police Force. The operation includes searches by land, sea, and air.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force has confirmed the arrest of Brian Hooker. A criminal investigation has been launched to examine the circumstances surrounding Lynette Hooker’s disappearance, with the U.S. Coast Guard leading the investigation.
Family Concerns
Lynette Hooker's daughter, Karli Aylesworth, has called for a thorough investigation, questioning the details provided by her stepfather. She stated her mother is a capable swimmer and in good health.
Aylesworth reported that Brian Hooker told her Lynette fell out of the boat and he attempted to throw her a life jacket, but was unsure if she received it.

The couple, known as 'The Sailing Hookers' on social media, were experienced sailors. The U.S. State Department is aware of the incident and is cooperating with Bahamian authorities.
