How to Use Alexa's 'Find My' Feature to Locate Lost Items Learn how Amazon Alexa's Find My feature helps you track lost items, from keys and sunglasses to electronic devices. Discover the role of Amazon Sidewalk and how to enable device location tracking for a complete search solution. Both Google and Apple have integrated search tools into their ecosystems: Find Hub for Android and Find My devices for iOS. They let you track everything from a smartphone to a wearable, like a smartwatch and a small GPS tag. Alexa Find My for Everyday ItemsBut wouldn't you know it, Amazon also offers a similar feature through Alexa called - you guessed it - Find My. Rather than looking at devices and gadgetry pinned on a map, you can simply ask Alexa via voice commands to find them. You can use it to find keys and Bluetooth devices like Tile trackers and Amazon's Echo Buds. You can even note and later rediscover items you've placed around your house, specifically non-electronic objects. For instance, you can tell Alexa that you're leaving your sunglasses on the kitchen table. When you want to recall where they are, or when you're frantically searching because you've forgotten, you can ask'Alexa, where did I put my sunglasses?' It will tell you. It works a lot like some of the newest features added to the Find My app, which also lets you set reminders for misplaced items. Though you don't need Prime or Alexa+ to use the location tracking. As for the other devices supported by Alexa's Find My functionality, you have to turn on location tracking for each one first.Echo Buds, Tile, and Amazon Find My compatible devices all have to be activated first. Once you do, you can ask Alexa to locate those devices, some of which can even sound an alert or audible alarm to help you pinpoint their precise location. The location features work well inside your home or around your property, but what about outside your home? What if you leave something behind and want to track it?Amazon Sidewalk Tracks Devices Away From HomeThere is a way, but any devices you want to track must support Amazon's Find My service, so not everything will be compatible. For your phone, you can install and use a skill like 'Find My Samsung' or the 'NVIDIA Find My Phone' skill to get the job done. The key to finding other lost items away from home is a unique feature called Amazon Sidewalk. It's a shared network, created by Amazon devices, that allows authorized and nearby Amazon Echo gear to connect and use the localized network. The Tile Network, utilized by Tile trackers, works the same way. Ring employs the Ring of Security for similar purposes. When your Echo or compatible devices are in range, they can use the wider network and track lost items through Amazon Sidewalk even if they move beyond your property.Granted, they must be within range of a Sidewalk-ready device that's broadcasting, too. This is a feature that must be enabled, as well. Amazon says that when a Tile tracker is near an 'Echo Sidewalk Bridge,' then Alexa can inform you when it was last seen there. It can do the same thing with available Sidewalk bridges in your neighborhood, so you can ask Alexa to track other compatible gadgetry outside your home.Though other users must have the community finding features enabled for their Echo devices through the Alexa app for it all to work properly.
