The original retail location for the local business Homage, situated in the Short North district, has permanently ceased operations. This closure was confirmed via a sign posted directly on the business's door, though no specific reason for the shutdown was provided.

Reflecting on the Short North Legacy

Vesler, representing the company, acknowledged the significance of the neighborhood to the brand's history. "The Short North has been a big part of our story, and I still remember opening our first spot in Brickel Alley back in 2010," Vesler stated.

He added that the decision was difficult because the area remains vibrant. "It’s a unique neighborhood and still an amazing place to shop and spend time, which made this decision even harder," Vesler shared.

Strategic Pivot Towards Growth Platforms

According to a company release, Homage is currently experiencing expansion across several key areas. These include e-commerce, wholesale partnerships, team stores, and licensing agreements.

The company is now concentrating its efforts where it is currently observing the greatest momentum. "Going forward, we’re keeping retail centered at Easton and leaning into the broader platform that’s developing nationally," Vesler explained.

Vesler was quick to emphasize that the closure was not a reflection of the local community. "Nothing to do with the neighborhood or the people. We’ve been lucky to have great partners there and an incredible group of customers and teammates over the years," he noted.

Operations Remaining Open

Despite the closure of the Short North flagship, several other Homage outlets remain operational. Customers can still shop at the Easton store location.

The company's online shop continues to function, supporting their e-commerce focus. Furthermore, the Homage Bar located within The Graduate Hotel is also still open for business.
