Hilary Swank is set to be honored at the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) 16th annual Earth Day Dinner on April 22nd. The event, held at the Skirball Cultural Center, is a partnership with Mika Brzezinski and Know Your Value.
Swank Receives Changemakers Award
Hilary Swank will receive the Environmental Working Group Changemakers Award. This recognition is for her instrumental role in the passage of California Senate Bill 646. The bill mandates that prenatal vitamin manufacturers test for and disclose levels of potentially harmful heavy metals in their products.
“Receiving the EWG Changemaker Award is a profound honor, but the real victory is the progress we’ve made together with California Senate Bill 646,” Swank stated. “As a mother, I believe every parent deserves the peace of mind that comes with knowing the vitamins they take to support their pregnancy have been tested for the presence of heavy metals.”
She continued, “Our health is our greatest asset, and I am proud to stand with EWG and HealthyBaby to ensure that no woman is left in the dark about what she is putting into her body. When we demand better standards, we aren’t just protecting ourselves, we are protecting the next generation.”
Panel Discussion: Engaging the Next Generation
Environmental Health Focus
Miranda Kerr will join Brzezinski and her daughter, Emilie Hoffer, for an “Engaging the Next Generation” panel. The discussion will center on critical environmental health issues.
“I’m grateful to partner with the Environmental Working Group and Know Your Value to highlight the importance of clean living and making informed choices about our health,” Kerr said. “We share a commitment to transparency and empowering people with accessible information.”
Kerr emphasized her brand’s commitment to organic skincare, stating, “From day one, my focus with Kora Organics has been on going a step further by creating certified organic, results-driven skincare people can trust for themselves and their families. We follow strict third-party standards to ensure our products are made without unnecessary chemicals while still delivering visible results. When we prioritize our health and the, we’re making conscious choices that support long-term well-being and help shape a healthier future for all.”
Advocacy and Conscious Consumerism
Erin Foster will also participate in the panel. She expressed her commitment to environmental health advocacy. “I’ve always felt a deep responsibility to speak up about environmental health, but the conversation changes when you realize how much our personal health is tied to the products we use every day,” Foster said.
“I’m thrilled to be part of the ‘Engaging the Next Generation’ panel to discuss how we can all become more conscious consumers and fierce advocates for a toxic-free future.”
EWG’s Mission and Impact
Since 1993, the Environmental Working Group has focused on issues impacting human and environmental health. Their work includes scrutinizing legislation, agricultural practices, and industry loopholes related to food, water, energy, and toxic chemicals.
“Bringing together such influential voices like Hilary, Mika, Miranda and Erin allows us to amplify our message far beyond the lab,” said Jocelyn Lyle, EWG executive vp of mission and partnerships. “This partnership highlights that environmental health isn’t just a policy issue — it’s a personal one.”
Mika Brzezinski added, “At Know Your Value, we empower women to recognize their worth in every room they walk into. Partnering with EWG for Earth Day is a natural extension of that mission—because knowing your value starts with taking ownership of your health and the environment your family lives in. We want the next generation to lead with confidence and the clarity that comes from a healthy lifestyle.”
