The $30 million production gets back on track
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 is halfway through filming, despite a setback in Gran Canaria, with director Owen Harris confirming the production is back on track.
Harris, who directed four episodes of the first season, including the series premiere, is once again in the director's chair for four of the six episodes in season 2.
"We are halfway through season 2, slugging away," Harris told The Playlist. "We are about to go off to Gran Canaria to shoot a part of it, and we have been shooting."
The production, which started in November, has been shooting in chunks, with Harris and his team adapting The Mystery Knight, the second installment of George R.R. Martin's Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas.
A new tone for the second season
The second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has a very different tone from the first season, according to Harris, who described it as "polar opposite envvironment" compared to the first season.
"I don't think we could have gone back and done another season 1 because it was specific to its environment," Harris said. "The second book has a different tone. It's a different story."
The show's creators have established Dunk and Egg as an awkward yet endearing couple, and now they're taking them on an adventure where they'll learn more about themselves and each other.
