Nancy Guthrie Investigation Faces Scrutiny
The investigation into the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has drawn attention to the experience level of the lead detective assigned to the case. A law enforcement source has alleged that the detective, who was in charge of the unit, had “never investigated a homicide before.”
Lack of Experience Alleged
According to the source, the supervisor’s lack of experience extended to having never handled a homicide case prior to being placed in charge of the investigation. This claim raises questions about the handling of the case, which has so far yielded no credible leads or suspects after more than two months.
Concerns Over Department Promotions
The source further alleged a pattern within the sheriff’s office of promoting individuals based on personal connections rather than merit. “You have decisions made by people that will install friends and people that can do stuff for them, opposed to people that are there under merit,” the source stated.
Case Remains Open
Nancy Guthrie was reportedly taken from her Tucson home over two months ago. Despite ongoing efforts, investigators have yet to identify any viable suspects or establish a clear direction in the search. The full interview with the source is scheduled to air on “Katie Pavlich Tonight” at 10 p.m. Thursday.
