Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke was arrested in Arkansas on Wednesday, facing charges related to speeding and possession of controlled substances. The arrest was made by the Cross County Sheriff’s Department, according to official records.
Details of the Arrest
Clarke was booked into jail on Wednesday afternoon on multiple charges. These include improper passing, possession of a controlled substance, fleeing, exceeding the speed limit, and trafficking a controlled substance. A booking photo of Clarke was also published on the department’s website.
Grizzlies' Response
Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo addressed the situation briefly before Wednesday night’s game against the New York Knicks. “I’m aware of the report, but don’t have any comments,” Iisalo stated.
Clarke's Current Status and Injury History
The 6-foot-7 forward is currently in his seventh season, having played college basketball at Gonzaga. Clarke has faced significant injury challenges this season, appearing in only two games.
Season-Ending Injury
Prior to the arrest, Clarke had already been ruled out for the remainder of the season. He initially missed 26 games recovering from surgery on his right knee, followed by another 46 games due to a right calf strain. Recent tests indicated he required additional healing before resuming “high-intensity court work.”
The Grizzlies announced on March 24th that Clarke would continue his rehabilitation and is expected to return for the next season.
