‘22 Lengths’ is described as a haunting meditation on womanhood and rural strife, showcasing a bold new talent. The film focuses on four generations of young women inhabiting the same farmhouse in northeast Germany.

Also nominated is Ilker Çatak for his work. Çatak’s film is ambitious and mystifying, exploring authoritarian oppression, artistic strife, and family conflict. Although set in contemporary Turkey, it was filmed entirely in Germany without disguising its true location.
