Two correctional officers at a Galveston, Texas, facility have been placed on leave following allegations of sexual assault made by female inmates. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) confirmed the officers are currently “relieved of duty” as investigations proceed.

Separate Assault Allegations

First Incident at Hospital Galveston

One inmate reported being sexually assaulted by two officers while at Hospital Galveston. This allegation prompted both criminal and administrative investigations by the TDCJ and the Office of the Inspector General.

Second Incident Reported Months Later

A second inmate came forward alleging a sexual assault that occurred earlier in the year. This incident was reported several months after the first allegation surfaced.

Potential Overlap in Accusations

According to a TDCJ spokesperson, one officer was specifically named in the second allegation, while two others were described. Investigators found that the named officer and one of the described officers match the individuals accused in the first incident.

Both officers involved in the potential overlap are currently on leave. A third officer, mentioned in the second allegation, is reportedly off duty for unrelated reasons.

Ongoing Investigations

Both alleged incidents are subject to both criminal and administrative investigations. The identities of the accused officers have not been publicly released. No further details regarding the nature of the alleged assaults have been disclosed at this time.
