Florida Teacher Faces Rape Charges
Daniel Le Lievre, a middle school teacher in Florida, was arrested on rape charges following allegations of a relationship with a student and her mother. The Oviedo Police Department confirmed the arrest, detailing a disturbing pattern of behavior intended to exploit a vulnerable student.
Details of the Alleged Scheme
According to police reports, Le Lievre, 41, dated the 13-year-old girl’s mother for approximately four months, beginning around October 2023 and ending in January 2024. Investigators allege that Le Lievre’s motive for the relationship was to get closer to the student.
Manipulating School Schedules
Le Lievre allegedly went to significant lengths to increase contact with the student. He reportedly altered her schedule at Tuskawilla Middle School to ensure she was in his classroom, doing so without the mother’s knowledge. The victim came forward on Monday, March 30, alleging that Le Lievre had raped her.
Grooming and Secret Communication
The arrest report indicates that Le Lievre allegedly groomed the teen both inside and outside of class. He is accused of teaching her Morse code to facilitate secret communication. Detectives also stated the victim’s mother observed inappropriate interactions, including late-night phone calls and hand-holding at Disney Springs.
Confession and Administrative Leave
Following the breakup with the student’s mother, Le Lievre allegedly confessed to the teen that he had only dated her mother to “get closer to” her. Upon surfacing of the allegations, the school district immediately placed Le Lievre on administrative leave. District officials have stated they have no plans to rehire him, according to FOX 10.
School District Response
The school board emphasized that the safety of students and staff is their top priority. They affirmed a zero-tolerance policy for any behavior that compromises the safety of the school community.
Current Status of the Case
Le Lievre appeared in his first court hearing on Tuesday, March 31, where a judge denied bond. As of now, it is unclear whether he has entered a plea or secured legal representation. The Oviedo Police Department has stated that further details will remain confidential due to the victim’s age.
