Escambia County Man Faces Felony Charge After Assault on Deputy
A 30-year-old man has been charged with a felony offense after allegedly striking an Escambia County deputy during an incident on Sunday morning. The details of the charge stem from an official arrest report released by local authorities.
The confrontation occurred at approximately 7 a.m. on Sunday. Deputies were initially dispatched to a residence located on Clairmont Drive in Escambia County.
Details of the Sunday Morning Incident
The initial call to the residence was reportedly made as a Baker Act complaint. Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect, identified as Marcus Au Austin, positioned on top of a bed.
According to the arrest report, Austin was observed at the time "yelling and cursing at deputies." When law enforcement personnel attempted to take him into custody, the situation escalated.
Assault and Property Damage Reported
During the attempt to apprehend Austin, he reportedly punched one of the deputies directly in the face. This physical assault resulted in damage to the deputy's eyewear.
