Tragic Morning Collision in Anaheim
A serious multi-vehicle accident in Anaheim early Tuesday morning has tragically claimed the lives of two individuals. Authorities confirmed that three other people involved in the crash were transported to local hospitals in critical condition.
The incident prompted a significant response from emergency services. Police advised that the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Anaheim Boulevard would experience closures extending into the morning commute as cleanup and investigation efforts proceeded.
Events Leading to the Crash
The sequence of events began around 12:45 a.m. Officers from the Anaheim Police Department (APD) observed a silver Infiniti sedan traveling at an excessive speed near Cypress Street and Harbor Boulevard.
When officers attempted to intercept the vehicle, the driver allegedly increased speed to evade police contact. The APD has stated clearly that officers did not initiate a formal pursuit of the speeding car.
The Collision Site and Casualties
Shortly after the initial sighting, patrol units discovered the resulting crash scene at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Anaheim Boulevard. A total of four vehicles were involved in the final collision, including the silver Infiniti.
Tragically, two individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. The three surviving victims were rushed to nearby medical facilities, where their conditions remain critical.
Preliminary Investigation Findings
Initial review of surveillance footage provided key details regarding the cause of the severe impact. Police indicated that cameras captured the silver Infiniti running a red light at the intersection.
Investigators believe the speeding Infiniti was subsequently struck by a blue sedan. This initial impact reportedly caused the Infiniti to then crash into a red sedan, completing the chain reaction involving four vehicles.
