The lockdown lasted approximately one hour, initiated after two witnesses observed Pino Diaz removing a black handgun from his backpack and approaching the school entrance. These witnesses immediately alerted law enforcement, who responded swiftly.
According to the Pflugerville ISD police arrest affidavit, Pino Diaz is charged with possessing a weapon in a prohibited place, a third-degree felony. School staff prevented him from accessing the rest of the campus before he exited the building.
Law enforcement secured the area and conducted a thorough search of the school and surrounding grounds. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported. The quick response and existing safety measures were credited with preventing a potentially dangerous escalation.
