Former San Antonio Firefighter Convicted in Comal County Case

A former member of the San Antonio Fire Department has been sentenced following a conviction in Comal County. A jury found the ex-firefighter guilty on multiple counts related to the sexual assault of a child.

Joshua Dyba, aged 33, received his sentence after the conviction. A Comal County official confirmed the details of the sentencing to KSAT.

Sentencing Details and Charges

The jury handed down a sentence of two years in prison for two of the counts against Dyba. Additionally, he received probation for a third count.

A fourth count that had been filed against Dyba was waived. This occurred because the victim involved in that specific incident did not provide testimony.

Timeline of Employment and Arrest

Mr. Dyba was initially taken into custody in late 2024. Following his arrest, the City of San Antonio confirmed his departure from the fire department.

City officials stated on a Tuesday that Dyba had officially resigned from his position in early September.
