ESPN Reportedly Wants Jason Kelce to Stop Saying We About the Eagles ESPN is reportedly working to get Jason Kelce to stop using the word we when calling former team the Philadelphia Eagles, after repeated slips during broadcasts including the Jaguars game in London. ESPN has said that Jason Kelce needs to stop referring to the Philadelphia Eagles as we during broadcasts, according to a report in the Philadelphia Inquirer. The former Eagles center joined ESPN after retiring and has repeatedly slipped into first-person language about his old team. Kelce used we during halftime of the Eagles Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sept. 28, when Chicago made easy work of Philadelphia on Monday Night Football. He said the Eagles played really well offensively, had opportunities, shot themselves in the foot, but moved the ball and ran the ball well.Jason Kelce Apologizes For We CommentsPat McAfee did not let Kelce comments slide, quipping on the broadcast that there was a lot of we talk out of Jason for Philly. The remark forced a slew of apologies from Kelce during the show and drew wider discussion about his transition from player to broadcaster. The issue resurfaced during the Eagles-Jaguars game in London on Sunday. At one point, when the Eagles punted the ball back to Jacksonville, Kelce said we punted the ball away, according to social media reactions. The Eagles blew the game late, falling to the Jaguars after leading with eight seconds left in regulation. Social media users were not thrilled with Kelce performance in the booth, highlighting the former Eagles star perceived bias. One user wrote on X that the idea is to keep him away from Eagles games.Another asked whether they had tried getting the Jason Kelce out of the booth. A different fan posted that it felt like watching an Eagles preseason game. Ahead of the London game, Kelce addressed his previous we comments on his New Heights podcast and assured Jaguars fans he would do his best to remain neutral. He said he had seen many Jags accounts saying they were not looking forward to the game.Supporters Defend Former Player TransitionHe promised to do his utmost to give Jacksonville the credit it deserves, adding that the Jaguars are playing as good as any team right now in the AFC and that he really believes that. Longtime broadcaster and former player Dufine came to Kelce defense in an interview with the Inquirer. Dufine noted that using we is a common mistake of former athletes and coaches when talking about their old teams. He praised Kelce before announcing Eagles-Jaguars on Sunday, saying Kelce sees the game really well. Dufine told Kelce to just tell him what he is seeing and they will support him the best way they can throughout the course of the game. Dufine believes Kelce has a natural talent for the business. Everything seemed to go smoothly from Kelce perspective in the London game, though the Eagles blew the game late against Jacksonville.Kelce has been heavily featured on ESPN broadcasts since making the transition from player to the booth, and the we issue has followed him through the early part of his broadcasting career.
