The Daily Show recently mocked Senator Lindsey Graham’s explanation for a visit to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, while conflict with Iran was ongoing.
Graham’s Disney Trip Draws Scrutiny
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a vocal supporter of U.S. intervention in the Middle East, faced criticism after photos surfaced of him at the Magic Kingdom. He attempted to explain his presence by stating he was in Florida for meetings and simply decided to visit friends.
“Almost Plausible” Explanation
Host Desi Lydic addressed the situation on The Daily Show, stating, “If you’re angry that Lindsey Graham is at the Magic Kingdom while the country is in a war he pushed for, don’t worry, he has an almost plausible explanation.” The show then presented Graham’s explanation: “He was in Florida on meetings and just decided to swing by Disney World.”
Comedic Response
Lydic responded with a satirical comparison, saying, “Going to Disney without a serious plan would be like, I don’t know, attacking Iran without a serious plan.” She further mocked Graham’s apparent attempt to appear relatable by posting images of himself with a shotgun on X (formerly Twitter).
Senator’s Initial Explanation
Graham, 70, initially told TMZ he was in South Florida for a meeting with Trump official Steve Witkoff regarding potential normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel. He claimed his Disney visit was a casual stop to see friends after the meeting, and that he had already returned to South Carolina.
Social Media Response
Responding to the shotgun image Graham posted on X, Lydic quipped, “Oh, honey. No one’s buying that. You can tell he’s not happy out there in the woods. He wants to be where the people are.”
Graham’s Stance on Iran
Graham has consistently advocated for strong U.S. action against Iran. At the beginning of the recent conflict, he told Fox News, “We’re going to blow the hell out of these people.” He also praised Donald Trump’s leadership, stating, “Donald Trump is resetting the world… He is the greatest commander-in-chief of all time.”
