Chiefs GM Avoids Wedding Talk
Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach found himself in an awkward position during an appearance on ESPN’s The Schrager Hour on Tuesday, March 31. Host Peter Schrager inquired whether Veach had received an invitation to the highly anticipated wedding of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.
Uncomfortable Exchange
Schrager, 43, quickly recognized Veach’s reluctance to address the topic, noting, “Is that, like, no one’s even allowed to talk about … ,” before Veach interjected. The 48-year-old GM responded with a laugh, calling it “the hardest-hitting question you’ll ever ask me.”
Draft Talk Preferred
Veach jokingly stated he would happily discuss the upcoming NFL Draft, even revealing potential draft picks. “Off the record, you can ask me who we’re picking and I’m going to tell you who we’re picking at nine. I cannot disclose anything about the wedding,” he said.
Wedding Timeline
Speculation on Wedding Date
ESPN Chiefs insider Nate Taylor previously reported that Kelce and Swift, both 36, are planning to marry before the Chiefs begin training camp, expected in late July. Despite the wedding speculation, Veach was eager to praise Kelce’s contributions to the team.
Kelce's Impact on the Chiefs
Veach highlighted Kelce’s positive influence, stating, “He puts a smile on somebody’s face every single day.” He emphasized Kelce’s ability to maintain a positive attitude, even during challenging times.
“It’s easy to lose sight of that and get into the headspace where it’s always negative, all the time,” Veach added. “He just keeps a positive spin and an uplifting spin on everything he does.”
Kelce's Commitment to the Team
Re-Signing Kelce
Veach admitted there were concerns during the season about Kelce’s future with the team. However, Kelce made his intentions clear after the regular season finale against the Raiders.
“We finished our season in Vegas and then we get back to Kansas City and we have exit interviews,” Veach explained. “Travis basically said, ‘I’m not going out like this.’”
