Chatfield High School Student Arrested

A 16-year-old student at Chatfield High School in Jefferson County, Colorado, was taken into custody on Tuesday after allegedly bringing a 7-inch butcher knife to school with the intent to harm a teacher, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Details of the Incident

The student, whose name is being withheld due to their age, reportedly brought the knife from home and concealed it within a backpack. They attended a class taught by the targeted teacher before ultimately abandoning the plan.

Student Self-Reported Intentions

According to the sheriff’s office, the student later went to the school office and requested to speak with a counselor. During this interaction, the student disclosed their intentions regarding the planned attack.

Investigation and Charges

School officials confiscated the knife, and the School Resource Officer was immediately notified. The student was booked into the Marvin W. Foote Youth Services Center and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon on school grounds. Additional charges are possible.

Upcoming Court Appearance

The student’s first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
