Just weeks after making his Broadway debut, up-and-coming actor Quentin Nguyen-Duy, 28, is grieving the loss of his father and stepmother, while his non-binary sibling, Asia Nguyen-Duy, 31, has been taken into custody in connection with the killings. For weeks, Quentin has stood in a military costume beside Hunger Games star Tom Blyth during previews of Aaron Sorkin's A Few Good Men at the Lincoln Center Theater in New York City. On Wednesday, the day before the official opening night, he was struck by tragedy when his father, Pipo Nguyen-Duy, 64, an Oberlin College professor, and his stepmother, Thi Tran Phong, 56, were found dead inside their Ohio home from gunshot wounds.Police said they were alerted to a vehicle fire in the Oberlin College Conservatory parking lot shortly before 9am on Wednesday. Around 10.30am, Oberlin Police forced their way into Pipo's home, where they found the couple dead, both with multiple gunshot wounds. The silver Toyota hatchback found at the scene had boarded-up windows, a wood stove in the backseat, and a makeshift chimney through the roof.Car Evidence Leads to ArrestA wallet, passport, suitcase, keys, loose ammunition, and packaging for a Glock were also found inside the car. Police said the car belonged to Asia, and the gun has not yet been recovered. Roughly an hour and 20 minutes later, the suspect was found near the 200 block of Shipherd Circle and was later booked into the Lorain County Jail in Ohio.On Friday, Asia, who previously went by Daniel Jones, had to be carried into an Ohio courtroom by four officers after refusing to walk. Their jail-issued pants were around their legs, leaving their underwear exposed as they were placed before the judge. Prosecutors told the court that a video exists of Asia allegedly confessing to the killings.A neighbor, Greg Porson, was walking his dog when he said a person he believes to be Asia jumped out of a car looking really disheveled, wet, and uneasy, he told News 5 Cleveland. The suspect allegedly asked Porson for a ride to the library so they could 'escape this cult,' and also asked him to record a video. Porson said he refused, telling the person that he never got into anything like that and was leaving.Actor Continues Broadway RoleQuentin has not publicly spoken about the death of his father, and the Daily Mail has reached out to him for comment. Even so, he was seen on the Lincoln Center stage on Thursday for the opening night of the limited-run play, performing alongside Blyth. His mother, Elan Chardin Gombart, 57, said in a statement: 'All families involved are deeply grieving this tragedy and ask for privacy during this time.We hope going forward that all news is treated with compassion and discretion for all involved.' Pipo had a large tattoo of his name on his inner forearm and was a frequent presence on social media, where he often shared photos of his sons growing up. In February 2024, he wished Quentin a happy birthday in a Facebook post, writing 'So grateful and proud to be a part of your unfolding story' and calling his younger son 'the hardest working, smart, and kind man.' Quentin and Asia appeared several times on their father's social media pages. In 2025, Pipo and Quentin traveled together, and Quentin supported his father's photography art show in New York City. In 2024, Quentin shared a video of himself cooking a Vietnamese meal with his stepmother, showing the pair appearing happy and joyful as he practiced his Vietnamese and cooking skills.
