Yevgeny Mirman, the voice actor behind Gene Belcher on the animated series “Bob’s Burgers,” was injured in a car accident at the Bedford Toll Plaza in New Hampshire on Tuesday, according to state police.

The crash occurred around 11:55 a.m. on the Everett Turnpike. Mirman, 51, was driving a 2026 Lucid Gravity which caught fire after the collision. Witnesses reported someone was trapped inside the vehicle, prompting a swift rescue.

A New Hampshire State Trooper assigned to Governor Kelly Ayotte’s security detail happened to be passing by and pulled Mirman from the burning car. The trooper’s quick actions were crucial in saving Mirman’s life.

Governor Ayotte shared images of the aftermath of the crash on X, praising the trooper and bystanders involved in the rescue. “I’m proud of the State Trooper and the bystanders who saved a life,” Ayotte wrote, highlighting the community spirit of New Hampshire.

Mirman is currently recovering in the hospital, according to his publicist, Sheila Kenny. “Eugene was in a very scary car accident,” Kenny told NBC Boston. “He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him.”
