'Bob's Burgers' Star Rescued From Fiery Crash

Eugene Mirman, the voice actor for Gene Belcher in the animated series 'Bob's Burgers', was seriously injured in a car crash on Tuesday, April 2, 2026. The incident occurred at the Bedford Toll Plaza in New Hampshire when his electric vehicle collided with the structure and subsequently caught fire.

Dramatic Rescue by Governor's Detail

New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte and her security detail arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. A state trooper and two bystanders bravely pulled Mirman from the burning vehicle through a window, according to New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark Hall.

Governor Ayotte's Response

Governor Ayotte herself exited her vehicle and used a fire extinguisher in an attempt to control the blaze. She was not in any danger during the incident. “I want to thank the Trooper on my security detail and the bystanders who stepped up to help at the scene of the crash for their brave lifesaving efforts,” Ayotte stated.

Mirman's Condition and Recovery

Mirman, 51, of Massachusetts, sustained serious injuries in the crash. His agent, Jay Glassner, confirmed the accident in a statement on Wednesday. “Eugene was in a very scary car accident,” Glassner said. “He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him. He is grateful to be on the mend.”
